A Regional Collaboration

For years, TGCC and Frostburg State University (FSU) have co-led the I-68 Regional Alliance, a coalition of regional leaders dedicated to fostering collaboration and addressing shared challenges.

In 2024, this partnership has been formalized, expanding the collaboration between TGCC and FSU. This new partnership converges activities, strengthens cohesion, and brings key stakeholders—across industry, public, and nonprofit sectors—together in purposeful dialogue and action.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Growing the renewable energy sector
  • Building markets for forest products & biomass wood energy
  • Expanding market-rate housing
  • Enhancing the outdoor recreation economy
  • Creating educational pathways aligned with regional job demands

Established to guide collaboration, composed of TGCC’s Executive Committee and FSU leaders. Focuses on identifying opportunities, ensuring alignment, and measuring impact.

Strategically positions the region as an outdoor business hub. TGCC and FSU raised $1.4 million to establish FOREI. Jeff Simcoe is the Executive Director.

Committed to sustainable solutions using the region’s natural assets. Focuses on forestry’s role in economic development and renewable energy. Working to revive Maryland’s Forest Markets Council.
